Debate Competition: The Impact of Working Four Days vs. Five Days on Society

Under the supervision of the Deanship of Student Affairs, the Student Debate Initiative organized its eleventh competition, which involved students from various colleges at the University of Sharjah. The competition was held virtually in Arabic on Thursday, March 8, 2024. The debate topic was "The Impact of Working Four Days vs. Five Days on Society."

The supporting team consisted of:

  • Sadeer Ahmed Al-Sobah from the College of Computing and Informatics
  • Amina Salman Khalil from the College of Health Sciences
  • Reem Salah Al-Hashimi from the College of Law

The opposing team included:

  • Fatima Said Said from the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences
  • Muneera Mohammed Al-Sarbel from the College of Pharmacy
  • Nouf Nabil Mohammed from the College of Science

Each team defended their position and supported their arguments with strong evidence. The competition aimed to develop presentation skills, critical thinking, and interpersonal communication abilities.

At the end of the competition, the judging panel, which included Dr. Nawal Al-Naqbi from the College of Communication, Ms. Dana Khalil, and Ms. Suhair Abu Hantash from the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, thanked all participants, provided feedback, and announced the opposing team as the winners based on the panel's final decision. The winning team received cash prizes, while the other team received symbolic gifts. The event was attended by 39 participants, including faculty, administrative staff, students, and the students' families.
