Safe Science, Safe Scientists: A College of Sciences Lab Safety Workshop
The Central Labs Directorate, in conjunction with the College of Sciences, organized a workshop focused on Lab Safety within the College's laboratories. The primary objective of this workshop was to support laboratory safety measures at the College of Sciences Labs and provide comprehensive guidance to lab personnel on adopting the best safety practices. The ultimate goal was to establish robust safeguards against potential lab hazards and effectively mitigate associated risks.
During the workshop, various topics were covered to ensure a comprehensive understanding of lab safety. These included emphasizing the significance of maintaining Lab health and safety, highlighting real-life examples of lab-related accidents, elucidating the safety services rendered by Central Labs, establishing clear lab safety rules, and conducting risk assessments to proactively identify and address potential hazards.
