5th Teaching and Learning Forum
On May 13th, 2024, the University of Sharjah hosted the 5th Teaching and Learning Forum, organized by the Institute of Leadership in Higher Education (ILHE). This hybrid event, attended by 103 online participants along with deans and heads of departments in person, focused on "Innovative Teaching and Learning for Transferable Skills" to enhance student employability. Keynote speakers included Prof. Hamid Al Naimiy, Chancellor, Prof. Yousef Al Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and Prof. Nancy Gleason from NYU Abu Dhabi, who emphasized the transformative potential of generative AI in education.
Six presentations were selected from 16 proposals, showcasing innovative practices in peer-assisted learning, 3D technologies in education, self-directed learning, experiential learning, fine motor skill development in dentistry, and hybrid learning environments.
The forum successfully facilitated the exchange of ideas and strategies to foster transferable skills, benefiting educators and students alike.
The 5th Teaching and Learning Forum 2024 provides a platform to share information and experiences on innovative teaching strategies. The event focuses on providing meaningful learning experiences to students and enhancing their employability. The theme of the forum is “Innovative Teaching and Learning for Transferable Skills”.
