Launching of the Arts Festival at the University of Sharjah
Under the patronage and attendance of Professor Dr. Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, Director of Sharjah University, the university's art gallery organized the seventh festival of visual arts titled "Under the Shade of Palms." The event spanned three days and included various art exhibitions, workshops, free drawing competitions, and a student bazaar. The aim was to enhance artistic awareness among students and emphasize the importance of arts in building civilizations, featuring a selection of specialized visual artists from the United Arab Emirates, as well as participation from several cultural and artistic institutions and talented students in photography and painting.
Among the prominent artists participating in the exhibition was Dr. Rafia Ghobash, founder of the Women's Museum and the UAE Art Museum, who presented an introductory lecture about the museum "And for Creativity, a Home." Other participating artists included visual artist Mousa Al-Halyan, visual artist Mohammed Al-Qassab, and the Collage Center for Talents in collaboration with the Emirates Fine Arts Society and the College of Fine Arts and Design at Sharjah University.
The festival featured an art exhibition titled "Journey of Color" in collaboration with the Emirates Fine Arts Society and the College of Fine Arts and Design, showcasing artists such as Dr. Karima Al-Shoumali, Ali Mubarak, student Meitha Bushleibi, and Rawan Muhi Malja.
Additionally, there was a drawing and photography exhibition titled "Creativity on the Road," with participation from a large number of university students. The artistic bazaar, titled "Creative Fingers," included 20 booths showcasing artworks and handmade crafts by female university students, alongside a section for artistic workshops, including mosaic, Arabic calligraphy, resin art, paper folding, and free drawing.
The opening was attended by Dr. Amina Al-Marzouqi, Deputy Director of the University for Student Affairs and Branches, Dr. Salama Al-Rahoumi, Dean of Student Affairs, along with several visual artists, department heads, and members of the teaching and administrative staff. The festival concluded with the announcement of the winners from the festival competitions and the honoring of all participating entities.
