Scope of Application
This policy applies to all student bodies, such as the student council, cultural clubs, scientific associations, the volunteer team, scout troops, the university art studio, theater, and psychological counseling.
Student Council
The University of Sharjah establishes a Student Council called the University of Sharjah's "Student Council," representing all its students, providing support and conveying student voice to the university administration. The Student Council is based on campus. Its term of membership is one calendar year.
Goals of the Student Council:
- Assist in introducing new students to the university and services offered on campus.
- Serve as a liaison between students and the university administration to address student issues and advocate for their viewpoints.
- Promote participation, teamwork, and cooperation among students, administration, faculty, and staff.
- Represent students in student gatherings of educational institutions across the state.
- Engage in activities that foster national awareness among students and strengthen their sense of responsibility and national belonging.
- Provide opportunities to raise awareness of ethical values.
- Engage in activities that enhance intellectual, social, sports, and artistic life within the university.
- Provide opportunities to discover, develop, and enhance students' talents, abilities, and skills, fostering a spirit of creativity.
Student Clubs and Scientific Associations Students form associations and clubs that align with their cultural, intellectual, and scientific interests, serving as an extension of the Deanship's role in activating student activities. These clubs and associations strengthen social, human, and intellectual ties among students and between students and the local community through joint activities and events. The goal of forming student clubs and associations is developmental and educational, aiming to develop personal leadership skills, planning abilities, and the skill of presenting opinions according to accepted rules and regulations through legitimate channels. Students can be members of more than one club or council, but they are not allowed to head two entities simultaneously.
Scout Troops:
The Scout Troops at the University of Sharjah aim to expand the scouting base and make the scouting movement actively present among youth, influencing community development. The Scout Troops work to create a generation of aware student leaders committed to the principles and values of the scouting movement, equipped with knowledge, skills, and leadership qualities to excel locally, regionally, and internationally. That is through active presence across the entire Emirate of Sharjah, believing in their duty and responsibility to spread the scouting movement among the youth of the state.
University Theater
Theater is an indicator of the well-being and cultural level of society. It should be embraced and recognized as a social institution based on individual work, producing public content that contributes to entertainment and social cohesion. Its most important role is enriching the intellectual and artistic life of society, as it is the most capable of reading the world and human suffering. This is why His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Federal Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University, has shown great interest in theater in general and university theater in particular, developing this cultural edifice, ensuring its correct establishment to contribute alongside other state theaters in local, Arab, and international forums. There have been plenty of outcomes of this theater through participation in various theatrical events locally and internationally.
University Art Studio
The University Art Studio was founded in the student centers at the beginning of the establishment of the university, as the Deanship of Student Affairs strived to develop students' visual and aesthetic vision through the activation of visual arts activities as one of the diverse activities that attract talented students in this field, developing their skills within a comprehensive knowledge framework, knowing of the importance of developing the integrated personality of the student.
The annual program of the University Art Studio includes organizing the annual general exhibition as a traditional event, holding the visual arts competition among state universities, participating in internal and external events, contributing to most national occasions and any other activities related to the arts generally.
