Advisory Committees

The Community Cooperation Office establishes the advisory councils and ensures that their recommendations are implemented. An advisory council is an appointed body whose role is to provide colleges and academic departments with the necessary guidance to best achieve their stated objectives and fulfil their missions. For example, the council would

  1. Conduct opinion surveys on the current and future programs and activities of the college and its academic departments.
  2. Present ideas and suggestions regarding the University's priorities and directions in terms of teaching, learning, research, community engagement and contributing to the promotion of the college's and University's reputation in the community.
  3. Leverage the University's resources and academic staff for launching projects and initiatives of benefit to the community.
  4. Provide academic training opportunities and professional guidance to students in order to enable them to enrich their knowledge through experiences and skills acquired at the worksite.
  5. Provide and support liaison between experienced professionals from outside the University and faculty members/students.
  6. Build strong relationships and connections between the colleges/departments/academic programs and the local community.
  7. Assist in the current process of strategic planning for the colleges, departments and academic programs.
  8. Provide advice on sources of funding and material support for the projects and initiatives carried out by the colleges, departments and academic programs and looking for new opportunities of funding.
  9. Ensure that the content of academic program matches the demands of the job market.
  10. Improve program quality through listening to opinions and suggestions.
  11. Provide consultation and guidance regarding research and its future development in the said field.
  12. Assist in promoting and securing job opportunities for college (department or program) graduates and provide extensive job market opportunities.
  13. Advise regarding issues referred to the Council from the Chancellor, the vice-chancellors, the respective college dean or the respective research institute at the University.
