The Central Laboratories Directorate at University of Sharjah is committed to provide a safe laboratory environment for faculty, staff and students. The goal of laboratory safety is to protect the laboratory personnel from injury and illness, and the University assets from damage. Below are the safety services provided by the Central Laboratories Directorate:
The Central Labs Online Safety Training System (SafetySkills®)
The Central Labs Online Safety Training System (SafetySkills®) provides an effective and comprehensive safety training solution for students, staff and faculty that covers all different hazards present in our labs (i.e. chemical, biological, radiation, electrical, and many more).
Following are the benefits of the Online Safety Training System:

The safety courses elaborate best practices on how to work safely in different labs as per the international standards. After completing the online courses, trainees can print their own certificates from the system.
To log into your account, simply click the following link or copy and paste it into a web browser then use your UoS User name and Password.

The Central Labs Directorate has designed amatrixto help the new employees and students select the proper training courses based on the relevant activities. As well as, the current lab personnel to re-assess their training needs if the nature of work has been changed, or the current assigned courses are not sufficient.
Just download the: “Standard Automated Safety Training Matrix”
and answer all questions to give you a list of the required courses, then fill the details (Name, Email, Department,….) and send it to one of the above emails to assign the required courses accordingly.
Online Chemical Inventory Management System:
The Online Chemical Inventory Management System(LabcliQ)is a cloud-based software used to manage all chemicals in all locations at the University. The system is a user-friendly standardized database that simplifies data entry, ensures reliable chemical data and provides accurate reporting in seconds rather than weeks to meet regulatory needs and improve labs safety.
To log into the system, simply click the following link or copy and paste it into a web browser, click on Single Sign-On button and write your University email, after that use UoS username and password if required.

Laboratories Safety Inspection:
Laboratory inspections are a vital part of our safety program. The goal of laboratory inspections is to maintain a safe workplace by reducing or eliminating hazardous conditions and to assist in compliance with the regulations. The Central Laboratories Directorate conduct formal laboratory inspections regularly using the Safety Inspection Management System (LabCliQ). Inspection results and corrective actions are provided to the Lab in-charge and reviewed by the department chair.

The Lab Safety Policies and Procedures:
The Central Laboratories Directorate has developed the below lab safety policies and procedures that describe roles and responsibilities, operational and standard practices for faculty members, lab staff and students who are working in teaching or research laboratories. These policies and procedures have been approved by UoS Chancellor.
The lab personnel must comply with these policies and procedures to ensure the safe working environment and avoid violations.
