The Sharjah Planetarium dwells within the golden dome in the heart of SAASST, representing the Sun and paralleling its radiance by being a beacon of scientific outreach that is serving to educate and inspire generations of students and public visitors alike. Everyone is welcome in the Sharjah Planetarium, whether you are seeking to quench your curiosity about various astrophysical phenomena or simply looking for some peace of mind by admiring the beauty of the cosmos, the power of the audiovisual in our diverse Planetarium shows will surely deliver!
Our Advanced Technologies and Planetarium Shows
In May 2023, our Planetarium started welcoming visitors again after receiving a major upgrade in both its hardware and software components, which has taken the quality and diversity of the shows to a whole new world-class level! The 18-meter dome is now home to 8 state-of-the-art Velvet LED projectors from the leading German company ZEISS. These LED projectors work in a hybrid system alongside the MegaStar Optical Starball Projector, to provide a fully immersive and unique stargazing experience.
Special software such as PowerDome, SkyControl and Uniview take the shows to the next level through the power of their simulations, allowing the audience to experience the beauty of the Deep Sky Objects and take a journey though the Solar System and all the way to the edge of the known universe! Pair all of this with the interactive, informative, and passionate narration of our live presenters, and you are in for a truly memorable experience!
