Sustainable Architecture and Resilient Design (SARD)

About

Background

SARD-RG aims to serve the UAE community through its main interlinked themes: Architecture, Urban Development, Architectural Heritage/Conservation, Technology, and Sustainability. The UAE is seeing extensive urban growth and development, which should be driven by appropriate methodologies, studies, and tools. SARD-RG is a backbone for all urban planning and design projects in the governmental sector such as urban planning councils, housing departments, and municipalities, through the provision of empirical research studies for potential urban developments. In addition, the research group provides these authorities with consultancy services to strengthen their platforms through structured research. There is a huge impact of research in advancing architecture in general and building performance in particular. Many concerns of energy conservation, space optimization, material consumption, sustainability, and lots more are being addressed through technical research and support in the architectural field. Collaboration with authorities such as SEWA, DEWA, and other bodies could introduce research to provide adequate building envelopes, which can contribute to the reduction of energy consumption in various ways. Architecture, urbanism, and technology research fields directly and strongly support and complement each other, impacting our communities in developing and providing state-of-the-art cities and buildings.

Goals
