Sharjah Group For Language Studies was established in2022. The development in the fields of linguistic studies and the new research interests that the world is witnessing, it requires researchers to direct their research interests to modern linguistic issues and to study linguistic phenomena in society, by absorbing the ancient linguistic lesson and benefiting from contemporary trends in linguistic research, Hence the idea of this linguistic group emerged to be one of the means of the University of Sharjah in achieving its mission to serve the community and study its issues.

The group specializes in authentic linguistic studies, with a focus on linguistic issues in the United Arab Emirates, and the Emirate of Sharjah in particular, such as the dialect of the Emirate of Sharjah, the bilingualism in the Emirate of Sharjah, the various linguistic errors, the dictionary of the dialect of the Emirate of Sharjah, in addition to preparing useful linguistic studies in the field of language, alqira'at and phonetics.

The mission of the research group

Towards an active and pioneering role for scientific research in serving linguistic issues in society in the Arab Emirates, especially the Emirate of Sharjah. And the development of scientific research to accomplish joint research projects that realize the role of the university in scientific research.

The research objectives of the group:

1. Completing linguistic studies that serve the community, especially in the Emirate of Sharjah.
2. Preparing linguistic studies on the Sharjah dialect.
3. Completing a dictionary of the Sharjah dialect.
4. Enable graduate students to prepare their messages on vital linguistic topics.
5. Organizing conferences and seminars specialized in topics related to linguistic studies.
6. Preparing research projects capable of obtaining support from academic institutions and research centers.
7. Preparing innovative scientific projects such as a catalog of linguistic issues in Quranic readings.

• Preparing a study on the dialect of the Emirate of Sharjah.
• Preparing a dictionary for the dialect of the Emirate of Sharjah.
• Enable some postgraduate students to prepare scientific theses on useful linguistic topics.
• Designing collective research projects to obtain support for their implementation.
