History, Museums & Tourism Research Group was established in 2022. The group seeks to do a number of specialized research and studies in the fields of history, museums, tourism and heritage as these fields have significant scientific, economic, intellectual and social importance, and through which we can come up with a series of specialized research that contributes to strengthening the scientific and academic aspects of these fields. The group will be launched based on two existing research projects supported by the University of Sharjah, in which members of the group participate, in addition to other research projects that the group will present according to the group’s specific goals.
Mission of the research group
The research group seeks to conduct studies of history, museums and tourism to produce quality research and studies of added value to knowledge by following sound scientific methodologies to solve societal problems related to historical, museums, tourism and heritage fields within the community framework of ethics.
Objectives of the research group
- Conducting research studies in the fields related to the research group.
- Applying the scientific methodology to solving societal problems related to the fields of history, tourism, and manuscripts.
- Offering practical solutions to documenting heritage and making use of it for tourism.
- Employing historical, tourism, heritage and museum components in highlighting the cultural and tourism identity of the United Arab Emirates.
- Disseminating knowledge related to the history and heritage of the United Arab Emirates and marketing it as a competitive tourism product.
- Directing researchers towards the research venues that meet the needs of the UAE society.
- Encouraging the participation of the department of history academic staff in the group’s activities.
- Focusing on manuscripts investigation, is in the UAE in general and the Emirate of Sharjah in particular.
