Within its 2020/2021 Academic Year Precautionary Measures The University of Sharjah Opens the COVID-19 Testing Center on its Campus
Within the framework of the University of Sharjah administration's keenness to provide the highest degree of health-risk prevention for the University's students and staff, Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University, inaugurated the COVID-19 Virus Examination Center, which was established inside the University campus in cooperation with the Sharjah Healthcare Authority and with direct support from the Department of Preventive Medicine in Sharjah. Prof. Qutayba Hamid, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Health Sciences and Dean of the College of Medicine, attended the inauguration along with Dr. Amina Al-Marzouqi, Acting Dean of the College of Health Sciences and Chairman of the Precautionary and Preventive Measures Committee, and Dr. Sanad Abdul Hamid Al-Saqqar, Director of University Medical Clinics.
Dr. Amina Al-Marzouqi indicated that the opening of this Center comes as a continuation of a large number of preventive measures put in place by the University before the start of the academic year and will continue to be implemented until the end of this pandemic in order to preserve the health of the University family. She added that the examination center, in cooperation with the Department of Preventive Medicine in Sharjah, will develop an integrated program for re-examination according to the instructions of the relevant government authorities. The examination mechanism and timelines will be announced soon, and each member of the University family will be sent a text message specifying the appropriate day and time so that the appointments are regular to avoid any crowding. Dr. Amina Al-Marzouqi, Chairman of the Precautionary and Preventive Measures Committee, thanked the Department of Preventive Medicine in Sharjah for their support and training of a number of University employees on the procedures required for registration and examination.
For his part, Dr. Sanad Abdul Hamid Al-Saqqar confirmed that the examination currently available is a PCR swab test, and it will be performed at the present time for all University employees whether faculty, administrative or technical staff, as well as for University students, especially those residing in the University dorms. Work will start at the center with the application of all precautionary measures from 9:00AM until 12:00PM, as the entire examination process takes less than five minutes, and all examination samples will be sent to the Department of Preventive Medicine on the same day, and the results will be sent by them by text messages as well as through the application ALHOSN, within 48 hours of the date of the examination. Currently, the person can do a re-examination after 4 weeks of the last examination, but he may request a re-examination before this appointment in the event of direct contact with a diagnosed condition (positive test, PCR swab).
