With the Participation of 24 Countries’ Students: The Launch of the 8th International Students' Dental Conference
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah, the University of Sharjah inaugurated the "8th International Students' Dental Conference " under the slogan "Integrated Dental Art: From the Emirates to the World," which is organized by the Association of Dental Students at the University of Sharjah, at the headquarters of the University's Medical Colleges, and with the participation of 35 university students representing 24 countries.
The Conference was inaugurated by His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, accompanied by Prof. Qutayba Hamid Al Heialy, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Health Sciences and Dean of College of Medicine, and Prof. Hien Hgo, Dean of the College of Dental Medicine, as well as a crowd of professors and specialists in the field of dental medicine and students.
During his opening speech, Prof. Qutayba Hamid Al Heialy welcomed the attendees, and expressed his hope that the activities and discussions of the Conference will result in meaningful results and recommendations, and confirmed that the University of Sharjah operates according to a strategy developed by its President His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah. This strategy requires making the student the focus of the educational process, and the ultimate goal of the Conference is to develop the student, as it is annually centered on how to urge students to work together to organize the Conference, and that the continuation of the Conference for the eighth year in a row is the biggest proof of its success. At the end of his speech, Prof. Qutayba urged students to benefit from the Conference by exchanging experiences and ideas and seeing the latest developments in the field dentistry, along with making friends and building strong relationships with workers in the field.
As for Prof. Hien Hgo, he thanked His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for his patronage of the Conference. He also thanked the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Health Sciences for their continuous support to the College, then thanked the Association of Dental Students and faculty and administrative members and students. He emphasized that the 8th International Students' Dental Conference is one of the achievements of the period since 2010, and it has gained a good reputation at the international level and has developed exceptionally as it attracts many dental students from different countries. The Dean then praised the Association of Dental Students and their professionalism in organizing the Conference and spreading the culture of leadership among college students.
Dr. Muhammad Musa Hammouda, President of the Dental Students Association, delivered a speech in which he expressed his pride in organizing the Conference in its eighth edition at this high level, and thanked 115 members of the organizational committees of the Conference of the college students. He confirmed that the University of Sharjah students have the determination to turn dreams into a reality embodied in innovation and creativity.
The Conference included the participation of 600 male and female students and dental graduates from 35 international universities from 24 countries: the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Algeria, Iraq, Australia, Belgium, the United States of America, Indonesia, France, Japan, the Czech Republic, India, Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Greece, and South Africa.
It is noteworthy that the scientific committee of the Conference received more than 70 scientific researches that were selected by a group of researchers and professors at the University of Sharjah to choose 25 research papers to be presented within the Conference activities. The Conference will also hold 14 specialized workshops, in addition to 14 lectures by international speakers to talk about various topics in the field of dentistry, epidemiology, endodontics, periodontal disease and the latest technological developments in the medical field.
