With the Aim of Strengthening Cooperation between Both Universities The University of Sharjah Received a Delegation from West Virginia State University

His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, received an academic delegation from the University of West Virginia in the USA, with the aim of researching and enhancing opportunities for joint cooperation between the two universities in a number of fields. Prof. Qutayba Hamid Al Heialy, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Health Sciences and Dean of College of Medicine, attended the meeting along with Prof. Essam Nasr Selim, Acting Dean of the College of Communication; Dr. Tariq Merabtene, Director of the Office of International Relations; and Prof. Abdelaziz Soufyane, Deputy Director of Office of International Relations The delegation included Dr. Robin Broughton, West Virginia State University Graduate Media Studies Coordinator and Professor of Media and Communications, and a number of University specialists.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the Chancellor of the University welcomed the attendees, praising the cooperation between the University of Sharjah and the University of West Virginia through the agreement signed in the year 2016, which included many areas of joint cooperation. The University Chancellor also indicated that the University of Sharjah is now one of the major universities in the UAE and the Arab region as a whole as it has the largest number of students in various scientific and academic disciplines, and its various branches cover all cities of the Emirate of Sharjah.

For her part, Dr. Robin Brown reviewed opportunities and areas of joint cooperation in the field of scientific exchange and student visits, and the establishment of joint academic programs, cooperation in the fields of communication, media and health sciences, as well as work on implementing joint academic projects, including a Master's in health awareness. At the end of the meeting, the delegation visited a number of Colleges at the University, in addition to looking at the studio of the College of Communication, which includes the most recent devices and equipment.
