University of Sharjah and Near East University Discuss Ways of Promoting Joint Cooperation
His Excellency, Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah (UoS) received a delegation from the Near East University (NEU) in Turkey, headed by Prof. Tamer Sanlidag, Vice Chancellor of Near East University, with the aim of promoting joint cooperation in research and academics between the two parties, under the memorandum of understanding signed recently through video conferencing technology.
During the meeting, the Chancellor of the university welcomed the delegation, where he briefly introduced the UoS and its research institutes and centers of excellence , stating that the university occupies a distinguished position in the field of research, in terms of the number and quality of researches published in the international database “Scopus”, pointing that the UoS has the ability to work on research projects in various disciplines, due to its research infrastructure that supports scientific research. The Chancellor also stressed the UoS’s keenness to always welcome cooperation with international educational institutes in research field with the aim of producing high quality research that serve and promote society. He also highlighted the achievements of the University of Sharjah and its progress in the international rankings of universities.
For his part, Prof. Tamer Sanlidag, Vice Chancellor of Near East University, expressed his appreciation for the kind reception, and he briefly introduced the NEU, in terms of its establishment and global classifications as well as addressed its achievements in applied scientific research.
During the visit, the delegation met Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, and Dr. Tarek Merabtene, Director of the Office of International Relations, to discuss ways of cooperation in joint research projects, academic degrees and joint supervision of Master students. In addition, the delegation met Prof. Qutayba Hamid, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Health Sciences and Dean of College of Medicine, to discuss joint cooperation in areas of exchanging students and faculty members as well as cooperation in the field of clinical training for students at NEU’s hospitals.
