University of Sharjah Strengthens Academic Partnerships with Bahraini Universities

Exploring Scientific and Academic Collaboration with the University of Bahrain and Arabian Gulf University

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen academic collaboration and exchange expertise with regional and international institutions, a delegation from the University of Sharjah (UoS) conducted an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The visit included meetings with several leading universities to explore opportunities for academic, scientific, and technological collaboration. The delegation included Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, Dr. Amal Al-Ali, Director of the Alumni Relations Office, and Dr. Sharifa Al Marzouqi, Director of the Media Center. The delegation visited the University of Bahrain and Arabian Gulf University. 

University of Bahrain: Joint Academic Programs and Scientific Cooperation

The visit began with a productive meeting at the University of Bahrain, where the delegation was welcomed by Prof. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University, Dr. Osama Abdullah Al-Jowder, Vice President for IT Services and Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Saleh Al-Ansari, Vice President for Community Service and Alumni Affairs, and Dr. Mohammed Reza Qadir, Vice President for Academic Programs and Graduate Studies. 

Discussions centered on fostering cooperation in key areas, including:

  • the development of joint academic programs to meet labor market needs in fields such as technology, engineering, and management
  • student and faculty exchanges to offer diverse educational experiences for learners and researchers

    and

  • collaborative applied research in sustainability, artificial intelligence, and climate change.

As one of the region’s distinguished academic institutions, the University of Bahrain is renowned for its innovative educational programs across a variety of research and scientific disciplines. 

Arabian Gulf University: Partnership in Health and Medical Sciences

The delegation also visited Arabian Gulf University which is recognized as a leading academic center and a pioneer in health sciences and environmental research in the Gulf region. The UoS delegation was received by Dr. Waheeb Al-Nasser, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Ghazi Al-Otaibi, Director of the Quality and Strategic Planning Center. Both parties emphasized the importance of enhancing collaboration, particularly in innovative health technologies, medical education through simulation, and research in renewable energy and water resources. Discussions also included the potential for launching joint research projects to foster innovation and address regional challenges in public health and the environment.

The delegation toured the university's state-of-the-art facilities that support teaching and learning including the Educational Resources Center for Anatomy and Pathology, the Simulation and Medical Skills Center, and the library and Learning Resource Center.

Strategic Partnerships with Regional Universities

At the conclusion of the meetings, Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj reaffirmed the University of Sharjah's commitment to establishing strong strategic partnerships with regional universities. These collaborations align with UoS's vision of achieving academic and research excellence while encouraging the establishment of international joint projects and collaborations with prominent global universities that contribute to sustainable development in the region.
