University of Sharjah Signs MoU with University of Waterloo to Strengthen Academic and Scientific Collaboration
As part of ongoing efforts to enhance and develop joint academic and scientific cooperation, the University of Sharjah (UoS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Waterloo, Canada. The MoU was signed by Prof. Yousef Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Sharjah, and Dr. Charmaine Dean, Vice President for Research and International Relations, along with Dr. Chris Houser, Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Waterloo.
The MoU outlines collaboration in several academic and research areas, including offering joint academic and training programs. engaging in scientific research initiatives. facilitating academic exchanges for faculty members and students, and designing specialized courses and training programs.
During the signing ceremony, Prof. Yousef Haik emphasized the significance of this partnership, particularly in areas related to medical and health sciences. The delegation from the University of Waterloo expressed their enthusiasm for working with the University of Sharjah, recognizing it as one of the largest and most prominent universities in the Arab region. The delegation toured several of UoS’s state-of-the-art facilities, including its specialized medical laboratories and research centers.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Prof. Mohamed Alamdine, Dean of the College of Health Sciences; Prof. Iman Abu Gharebiah, Vice Dean of the College of Medicine for Graduate Studies; and Prof. Adel Al-Sirjani, Deputy Director of the Office of International Relations.
