Under the patronage of His Excellency, Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah (UoS), the Center of Excellence in Precision Medicine, part of the Institute of Research for Medical and Health Sciences at the University of Sharjah, organized a specialized scientific symposium titled "Artificial Intelligence in Precision Medicine." The event took place over three days from December 10 to 12, 2024, at the Medical and Health Sciences Colleges campus. The symposium was held in collaboration with Skoltech University and the University of Sharjah's Colleges of Engineering, Computing and Informatics, Sciences, Pharmacy, and Health Sciences.

During his opening speech, Professor Ammar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, welcomed attendees from Skoltech University, as well as participants from the United Arab Emirates University, Khalifa University, and the University of Sharjah. He emphasized the importance of the symposium’s topic and highlighted that the University of Sharjah places great emphasis on the use of artificial intelligence and its applications across various fields, particularly in the medical sector.

Prof. Rabih Halwani, Director of the Institute of Medical and Health Sciences Research, emphasized the institute's commitment to fostering collaboration and strengthening professional ties with academic institutions. He highlighted the importance of keeping pace with advancements in technology and artificial intelligence (AI), integrating these developments into scientific research to maximize the quality and impact of research outcomes.  

Prof. Rifaat Hammoudi, Director of the Center of Excellence in Precision Medicine, outlined the center's vision to enhance scientific research in precision medicine through collaborative efforts. He described the center as an advanced scientific platform exploring all the latest developments in health technology. He further noted that the symposium would address the role of AI and machine learning in identifying diagnostic and predictive markers for complex chronic diseases, including neurological disorders, endocrine conditions, cancers, and autoimmune diseases. Presentations will feature real-world case studies delivered by interdisciplinary researchers specializing in medicine, computer science, mathematics, and engineering.
