To Support Strategic Cooperation and Experiences Exchange The University of Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah Courts Sign an MoU
The Ras Al Khaimah Courts Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Sharjah with the aim of supporting and strengthening strategic cooperation between the two parties in order to achieve their strategic goals, and to support developing frameworks for mutual understanding and exchange of experiences and information in various fields. Counselor Ahmed Muhammad Al Khatiri, Head of the RAK Courts Department, signed the MoU along with His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah.
Counselor Ahmed Al-Khatiri affirmed the RAK Courts Department's keenness to strengthen cooperation with leading universities in the country to enhance effective partnerships, and to work to develop activities and programs of common interest in various fields in a way that contributes to qualifying young cadres, and supports university students in the professional and legal fields. It also aims to provides all capabilities and opportunities for training and professional development for those cadres in a way that qualifies them professionally. He indicated that this MoU constitutes a new addition to the record of strategic partnerships by the Department with various governmental and private entities to achieve their strategy aimed at strengthening relationships with partners and society.
For his part, His Excellency the Chancellor explained the importance of the agreement in achieving cooperation between the two parties in various legal aspects, providing training opportunities for university students, and paving the way to benefit from the scientific expertise existing at the University of Sharjah and in various academic disciplines. The University of Sharjah, he added, is now the largest university in the country thanks to the support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University, in terms of the number of distinguished academic programs that meet the needs of the local labor market, and the number of its students. The University is currently home to approximately 16,500 male and female students, of whom 2,400 are in graduate studies programs. The University is also working within the framework of its current strategic plan to benefit from the modernized technological infrastructure at the University to continue teaching several courses electronically in the future and to employ the great capabilities of specialized programs in this field.
The MoU stipulates effective partnership and cooperation relations between the two parties would be strengthened in the academic, scientific, research, training, cultural and development fields, community service in the legal field, the exchange of knowledge and experiences, and support for creative skills and innovation. The MoU also stipulated the participation of the University of Sharjah students in scientific activities and field training through the courts with the aim of providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary to become effective in the labor market. This is within the hours approved for each student and specified by the University. The two parties will also work to organize mutual scientific lectures, training courses, and scientific seminars for court employees.
Prof. Sherif Sedky, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, attended the signing along with Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies; Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies; Prof. Awad Al Khalaf, Dean of the College of Shari'a and Islamic Studies; and Prof. Imad El Din Ahmad Abdul Hay, Dean of the College of Law.
