According to the Times Higher Education 2025 Subject Rankings: University of Sharjah Leads UAE Universities in Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences
The University of Sharjah has achieved a significant academic milestone by ranking first among UAE universities in the fields of arts, humanities, and social sciences according to the latest Times Higher Education 2025 Subject Rankings. The University also witnessed notable global progress in engineering sciences, computer science and informatics, and physics, rising to the (201-250) category compared to the previous year's ranking. Additionally, it maintained its advanced global positions in medical and health sciences, economics, and business administration within the same category (201-250), reflecting its sustained academic excellence.
This achievement was announced by His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, who emphasized that these results are a testament to the University's continuous academic and research efforts, supported by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, President of the University. His Excellency Prof. Al Naimiy highlighted that the Times Higher Education rankings are among the most reliable globally, as they are based on rigorous criteria and credible indicators for evaluating universities.
This accomplishment adds to the University’s recent recognition by the UI GreenMetric, which ranked the University of Sharjah 67th globally in the 2024 ranking for sustainable development and clean environment. The University also retained its first position in the UAE for the eighth consecutive year, second in the GCC, and third in the Arab world.
These rankings reflect the University of Sharjah’s continuous advancements in teaching and learning, incorporating the latest global technologies. They also underscore the quality and impact of its published scientific research, which garners international citations, further cementing the University's reputation as a prestigious global academic center for knowledge transfer and advanced studies.
