The University of Sharjah's College of Computing and Informatics held its second Advisory Board meeting headed by H.H. Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Executive Chairman of the Department of Government Relations, and in the attendance of the College Board members, Prof. Mohammad S. Obaidat, Dean of the College of Computing and Informatics, and Prof. Ashraf Elnagar, Vice Dean and Secretary of the Board.

H.H. Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Executive Chairman of the Department of Government Relations, welcomed the attendees at the beginning of the meeting and thanked them for sharing their suggestions and opinions, which greatly contribute to accomplishing the strategic plan of the College of Computing and Informatics. He also stressed the importance of the fields of information technology, data analysis and artificial intelligence.

The College Dean presented a summary of the College's programs at the bachelor's, master's and PhD levels, then talked about the indicators of evaluating performance according to the strategic plan of the College and the University, and touched on the distance learning system applied by the University of Sharjah since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. He also touched on the conferences, symposia, and scientific workshops organized by the College and its faculty and students, and spoke about the College's establishment of the IEEE International Conference on Communications, Computing, Cyber Security and Informatics at the end of the current year. The Dean then gave an overview of the new College programs expected to be launched during the coming period after their academic accreditation from the institutions concerned in the country including a PhD program in Computer Science, MSc and BSc in Cybersecurity Engineering, MSc in Industrial Intelligence, MSc in Business Data Analysis, BSc in Medical Informatics, MSc in Data Science, and BSc in E-Commerce.

During the meeting of the Board, the president and members of the Board expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the College that achieved many accomplishments in a short period. The Board then approved the minutes of the previous meeting, and the members presented through discussions a set of proposals aimed at linking the programs and graduates of the University to the labor market, and the charter of the Board was presented, which aims to define the desired goals of the Advisory Board with a description of the responsibilities and roles assigned to members of the Board, as well as how to serve the community by preparing distinguished graduates who help the community's development. The members of the Board also proposed setting a set of special performance measurement indicators of the College, which contribute to and are in harmony with the overall performance indicators of the University.
