Within the UAE Innovation Month and Sharjah Innovation Week activities, the University of Sharjah and the Sharjah Economic Development Department launched the fifth session of the "Sharjah Design and Innovation Award 2020", which is available to all University students at the undergraduate level to present their projects and innovative initiatives that benefit the community and attract government agencies and private sector companies to apply these innovative ideas in the Emirate of Sharjah. This is provided that these projects are in line with social and cultural values and serve the aspirations of the Emirate of Sharjah, as well as that the ideas and projects are environmentally and humanly friendly and contribute to the development of internal working environment.

This came during the first introductory workshop for the Award presented by Dr. Mohamed Al Hemairy, Head of Technology Transfer Office; Dr. Manar Abu Talib, Chair of Research Outreach Department; and Dr. Amr Saleh, Economic Adviser to the Sharjah Economic Development Department, which dealt with an introduction to the Award and the mechanism and conditions for participation as well as the most important dates for registration. The three best projects will be chosen at the University level, and the final results will be announced to the winners at the Annual Scientific Research Forum honoring ceremony that will be held in April 2020.
