The University of Sharjah Offers a Master of Science Program in Astronomy and Space Sciences
The University of Sharjah is offerings a new Master of Science in Astronomy and Space Sciences (MSASS) program, which have been recently approved by the Ministry of Education. The University is offering it in cooperation with the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology (SAASST).
His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, confirmed that the idea of launching the program came from the utmost importance that the UAE attached to entering the fields of space science and technology and astronomy and their exploration, and that the program is the first of its kind in the country, and it is demanded by the labor markets to keep up with the demands of the National Space Agenda 2030.
The University Chancellor pointed to the strength of the program due to it being hosted by the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology (SAASST) that allows researchers to learn and train while practically applying their scientific research during their studies, which will strongly qualify them for the job market.
The University Chancellor added that the tremendous progress the world is witnessing in the prospects for space exploration and astronomy gave great importance to the program, so the University of Sharjah worked to prepare the program academically in a very carefully studied manner aimed at enhancing and developing the academic and professional knowledge of researchers in its sciences by providing them with sufficient knowledge to understand the astronomical and physics worlds. This in addition to enhancing their knowledge of space science concepts, and visualizing the general structure of the Universe, in addition to providing them with the basics of advanced astronomical knowledge in space science technology and ways to address future challenges facing humans in this field. The program also provides students with practical experience in space science research and development of projects related to it and how to manage them. This in addition to preparing students and urging them to engage in independent and cooperative scientific research between the University, the government and the industrial sectors under the supervision of a group of scholars and researchers from the faculty of the University of Sharjah.
