The University of Sharjah Holds the Women in Research Workshop to Discuss Writing Effective Research Proposals
In the presence of His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, held a workshop entitled "Writing Effective Research Proposals" by Dr. Maha Saber, Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the College of Medicine. This is through the Research Outreach Department and the Committee for Women in Scientific Research at the University of Sharjah. The Workshop presented several skills and rules in writing scientific research.
Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, started the Workshop by welcoming the attending faculty members from the different University Colleges. He stressed that this type of workshop will develop the skills of faculty in preparing sound scientific research to be accepted for internal and external grants, which in turn will serve the community and address many relevant challenges.
The Workshop addressed several themes including how to search for a title, theme, and research questions through brainstorming in cooperation with internal or external experts and getting to know the work team and available resources. Dr. Maha addressed the importance of focusing on modern challenges related to the local community, and cooperation with local and international institutions for support or funding. She also discussed providing a realistic timeline for implementing project tasks and submitting study proposals that contain expected research outcomes such as patents, innovation, and creative work. The Workshop also focused on research methodology by providing evidence, using reliable methods while analyzing results, potential challenges, and finding alternative solutions while intensifying project critical analysis and reviewing quotations.
