SAASST Presents 6 Scientific Papers in 5th COSPAR Symposium 2023
The Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Science and Technology (SAASST) of the University of Sharjah (UOS) participated in the fifth Symposium of the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR): Space Science with Small Satellites, held in Singapore, during which the CubeSat Laboratory presented several scientific papers, intended to showcase SAASST great achievements in satellite building as per the launch of Sharjah-Sat-1 and the preparation for Sharjah-Sat-2 and Sharjah-Sat-3.The symposium covered the rapid advances made in the last decade in small, micro, and nano-satellites for space science, as well as the emerging space debris issue in Low-Earth Orbit.
SAASST researchers presented six scientific papers during the symposium sessions, including “Sharjah-Sat-1: A 3U+ X-ray Observation Satellite “Sharjah-Sat-2: A Hyperspectral 6-U CubeSat Earth Observing Tool and “Sharjah-Sat-3: A Low-Cost 6U CubeSat for Space Weather Applications,. In addition to Capacity Building through the Series of Sharjah-Sat CubeSat Missions Sharjah-Sat-2: A Hyperspectral 6-U CubeSat Earth Observing Tool, and “Sharjah-Sat-3: A Low-Cost 6U CubeSat for Space Weather Applications,.
It is noteworthy that COSPAR was established in 1958 to promote scientific research in space on an international level, with emphasis on the exchange of knowledge and results, and to provide a forum, open to all scientists to facilitate interaction.
