His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, inaugurated the "College of Engineering Research Week" organized by the College and with the participation of 40 graduate studies students in the Master's and PhD programs. The Week aims to exchange scientific and research experiences and best practices between the professors of the College of Engineering and students. Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, attended the inauguration along with Prof. Ahmed Al-Shama'a, Dean of the College of Engineering; Prof. Mufid Samarai, Senior Advisor at the Sharjah Research Academy; and a number of Deans, Heads of departments, faculty members, and graduate students.

During his opening speech, the University Chancellor welcomed the attendees, and expressed his happiness and pride in the achievements of the College of Engineering in the field of scientific research, and stressed the necessity of research cooperation with national institutions and bodies with the aim of working to find solutions to community problems through scientific research. Prof. Maamar Bettayeb also stressed the importance of targeted research cooperation to serve the community; he added that the University has a research infrastructure at the highest level that enables it to conduct meaningful scientific research in all fields. As for Prof. Ahmed Al-Shama'a, he thanked the University Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies for their support, which he described as unlimited for the College of Engineering and its activities in scientific research.

The Research Week of the College of Engineering comes within the framework of supporting the strategic plan of the University of Sharjah, which seeks to conduct high-quality research that addresses contemporary challenges, and contributes to the advancement of knowledge by exchanging scientific and research experiences between Master's and PhD students and their supervisors, then discussing the current situation and challenges facing graduate studies students in the College with regards to thesis research.

During the Research Week, graduate students presented their research in the field of engineering management that will be published in one of the most prestigious and indexed international scientific journals – the SCOPUS database. The papers will be published in a special issue under the title "Engineering Management in the United Arab Emirates", and also during the Week Graduate students presented their research in the field of contemporary issues in civil and architectural engineering as well as new and renewable energy research, mechanical and nuclear engineering, computer and electrical engineering.
