Organized by the Scientific Research Segment of the University of Sharjah Scientific Research Forum for Police Centers with Master's and PhD Students

Within the framework of cooperating with local community institutions, a scientific forum was held at the University of Sharjah to review some research proposals of common interest that may be the nucleus of Master's and PhD thesis projects in various disciplines, in the presence of Prof. Raafat El-Awady, Dean of the College of Graduate Studies at the University of Sharjah, along with Dr. Khaled Hamad Al Hammadi, Director of the Police Research Center at the Sharjah Police General Headquarters; Dr. Issa Basaid, Member of the Dubai Police Scholars Council; as well as a number of College Deans and directors of research institutes; Dr. Manar Abu Taleb, Chair of Research Outreach Department, and faculty members and postgraduate students at the University.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies welcomed the attendees, stressing the importance and role of scientific research in achieving the comprehensive development of countries, peoples and societies, due to what researchers are doing in various fields of studying issues and extracting results and recommendations that contribute in turn to achieving a better life for people. He also pointed to the importance of continuous and close cooperation between academic institutions and between all the bodies and institutions of the local community in proposing and choosing ideas and issues of scientific research as they are the first beneficiaries of that research and the results will be applied through them.

The first session of the Forum started with Dr. Khaled Al Hammadi giving an introductory presentation that dealt with a set of recommendations and observations that must be taken into consideration when starting a research study and choosing the subject and idea of the study, including that its results be applicable in the local community, with the need for the study to make a number of recommendations that can be used by the competent authorities to develop solutions to the issue or topic of the study. He concluded his speech by offering a set of general themes that could be one of the areas of future study, including studies and research related to security performance, research related to social, legal, environmental, and technical security, as well as topics related to economic security.

In the second session presented by Dr. Issa Basaid, he reviewed the general features of the strategic plan of the Dubai Police General Headquarters, explaining the vision and mission in addition to the strategic directions and goals through which to work, as well as general indicators to achieve those goals. During the session, he also presented models for a group of Master's and PhD level theses, including a study to evaluate the performance of government institutions that rely on models for job performance excellence, civil responsibility for self-driving cars, and other research topics and ideas that could be a research area of graduate students.
