Launching the Activities of the CCCI 2020 at the University of Sharjah
Under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah, the University of Sharjah launched the activities of the IEEE "International Conference on Communications, Computing, Cybersecurity and Informatics (CCCI 2020)." comes in its 13th session and was held over a period of three days until Thursday, November 5th with the participation of 8 speakers representing 7 international universities and companies in the fields of computing and informatics.
The CCCI 2020 activities began with a speech delivered by His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, and Honorary President of the Conference. He welcomed the attendees and thanked the speakers for their contributions to the Conference. He extended his gratitude to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah for his kind support and sponsorship of this Conference. The Chancellor added that this Conference is consistent with the five-year strategic plan of the University of Sharjah, which was developed following the directives of His Highness and focuses on strengthening the presence of the University of Sharjah internationally by holding international conferences aimed at serving and developing society.
The Chancellor added that the specialization of the computing sciences sector, and all related sciences and other disciplines at the University of Sharjah, won first place at the UAE level in the Times Higher Education 2020 classification. He emphasized that the establishment of the College of Computing and Informatics at the University of Sharjah came in harmony with the national agenda of the UAE, which focuses on artificial intelligence and its applications, smart cities, cybersecurity, data analysis, advanced skills, space science and technology, healthcare, innovation, entrepreneurship, e-commerce, economics and the environment.
The Chancellor added that the University of Sharjah has become one of the largest universities in the country in terms of the number of students, colleges, and programs it offers, as well as its research institutes and centers of excellence. It is progressing with distinguished and well-established steps in international classifications. All programs offered by the University, he added, are accredited by the Ministry of Education, and the University is working within its current five-year strategic plan to approve the remainder of its international programs by the end of 2024.
Prof. Mohammad S. Obaidat, Dean of the College of Computing and Informatics and President of the Conference, emphasized that CCCI 2020 provides a unique platform for researchers, academics, industry, business and government sectors to share their experiences and results of their research in the fields of communications and computing, cybersecurity, and informatics.
Prof. Obaidat emphasized that the Conference's main themes are extremely important as countries are currently seeking to gain an advanced place in the era of digital and knowledge economy, adding that the program is rich in qualitative and quantitative content from contributions to research and development in the field of communications, computing, cybersecurity, and informatics.
He added that prominent scientists and researchers known at the international level participated in the conference. He also indicated that the research and topics discussed address important issues, especially for smart modern cities and the sectors of industry and trade as the conference addresses research related to industrial intelligence, cybersecurity, electronic commerce, data analysis, robotic engineering, computer simulation and medical informatics.
