Intellectual Property and Advanced Scientific Research Development in a Seminar at the University of Sharjah
The Technology Transfer Office & Research Outreach Department at the Vice Chancellor's Office for Research and Graduate Studies at the University of Sharjah organized a seminar for the four Medical Colleges under the title "Intellectual Property and Advanced Scientific Research Development: Protection of Inventions and Technical Examination in the Medical and Biological Fields." The seminar aims to raise awareness of in the field of intellectual property rights. Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, attended the seminar along with Prof. Taleb Al Tel, Director of The Research Institute for Medical & Health Sciences, as well as faculty and students from the various Medical Colleges.
Dr. Mohamed Al Hemairy, Head of Technology Transfer Office, welcomed the attendees and gave an introduction on the topic and then introduced the guest speaker Dr. Amr El Dakak who works at Clyde & Co as a Patent Specialist. The lecture focused on patentable subject matter and the examination process of patents in the medical and biological fields. During the seminar, Prof. Maamar Bettayeb emphasized that such seminars and workshops in the field of intellectual property aim to enhance awareness of intellectual property rights and the importance of patent registration for advanced research at the University Sharjah. At the end of the seminar, questions and inquiries were answered and there was room for exchange of information and experiences in the field of registration of inventions.
