The University of Sharjah, in cooperation with the Prevention and Safety Authority of the Government of Sharjah, held a graduation ceremony for the "Professional Diploma for Preparing Occupational Health and Safety Trainers", which was prepared and implemented by the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development at the University of Sharjah for 25 participants from departments and institutions in the Government of Sharjah, with a total of 130 training hours. This program comes with the aim of graduating a team called "Safety Ambassadors" to work as trainers for cadres of employees of the Government of Sharjah in the field of occupational health and safety. His Excellency Sheikh Saif Muhammad Al Qasimsi, Director of the Prevention and Safety Authority, attended the ceremony along with His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah; Prof. Radhi Al Zubaidi, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development; and a number of officials from both sides as well as the participants in the diploma.

In his opening speech, His Excellency Sheikh Saif Muhammad Al Qasimi offered his congratulations to the graduates and wished them success on the next stage, which is a stage of work and diligence in spreading a culture of prevention and safety among all members of society. He added that the Authority will always be ready to meet all their needs, and thanked the efforts of the University of Sharjah and the members of the academic and administrative staff who have improved their qualification and preparation.

As for Prof. Radhi Al Zubaidi, he said that today the University celebrates with pride a new constellation that advances in life after providing it with all that it needs to face the requirements of this life of science and knowledge within the University of Sharjah environment, whose mission is based on excellence in all that it offers to its students of science and the knowledge that labor markets necessitate. The University of Sharjah, he continued, is framed by a global scientific renaissance vision that has been built and directed by its President, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, until it has reached major global achievements in terms of academic, scientific and technical standing and sustainability. The Professional Diploma for Preparing Occupational Health and Safety Trainers is one of the pioneering programs in the field of maintaining occupational health and safety at work, as it includes seven main areas in addition to the graduation research project presented by each trainee and evaluated by a scientific committee of lecturers, which gave enrollees an opportunity to compete for the highest scientific assessments.

The Professional Diploma for Preparing Occupational Health and Safety Trainers works to enrich participants' knowledge of modern concepts in training; to develop their skills and capabilities in preparing and implementing training programs related to occupational health and safety; to teach the basics of occupational safety and health and risk management and how to deal with dangerous materials in handling and storage; and to teach evaluation methods of health and safety risks and developing preventive plans for that. This as well as promoting a positive culture of occupational health and safety in the construction sectors and projects, and working to develop and implement occupational health and safety policies and monitoring preventive systems in Sharjah.
