The University of Sharjah opens the door for admission to join the PhD in Communications program by the College of Communication at the University from the beginning of next April to commence studying in this program with the beginning of the Academic Year 2020/2021.

This was announced by His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, confirming that this new program, which was recently approved by the Ministry of Education, is the first PhD program in the field of communication at the level of colleges and departments of communications in the UAE. This program, he added, comes in line with the University's five-year strategic plan (2019/2024), which is currently being implemented, and aims to increase the number of graduate programs for masters and PhD levels at the University, as it is now the first at the UAE level in terms of the number of graduate programs that it offers and that total 48 programs in various specializations, including 2 graduate diploma programs, 31 Master's programs and 15 PhD programs in the medical, health, scientific, humanities, legal and shari'a specializations.

His Excellency the Chancellor of the University added that this program will contribute to building the national capabilities of the UAE in the academic fields and applied research related to communication, on the one hand it meets the needs of labor markets and decision makers in the fields of information, communications and public relations in the UAE, as well as it fulfills the desire of many researchers with a Master's degree in completing their studies to obtain a Ph.D. The program, His Excellency continued, also seeks to qualify future generations of researchers, professors, leaders and practitioners in the field of communication who are able to keep pace with the rapid developments of digital communication technology and face challenges resulting from these developments at all levels.
