The development of any nation can be measured by its dedication to the importance of scientific research. The University of Sharjah believes in the crucial role of scientific research in the development of the modern United Arab Emirates. Since its establishment in 1997, the university has put research at the top of its list of priorities. Part of the university's strategy is to promote research among faculty members in all colleges, with the aim of attracting outstanding faculty with impressive research accomplishments. This stems from the university's understanding of scientific research as the basis of economic, social, humanitarian, and medical developments. With scientific research we construct knowledge, and within this knowledge lies the solution to many problems.

Research Funding Department
The department is responsible for pre-award and post-award administration of research project funds. The Department of Research Funding works with other administrative offices to create an environment that encourages and facilitates research within the University of Sharjah. The Department strives to provide high-quality service to faculty and to increase the funding available to support research, while protecting the University’s interest.
Scientific Publishing Unit
In an effort to promote the University of Sharjah and to enhance its stature, both short and long term strategic objectives of scientific research publications are developed by adopting a rigorous and well-establish policies for peer evaluation of the authorized textbooks and reference books and further developing the scientific journals of the University within the framework of outstanding publishing. From this standpoint the University of Sharjah Journal aims at contributing to the development, enrichment and dissemination of knowledge through publishing original scientific research and scientific critical reviews articles in the fields of the journal-related subjects.
Technology Transfer Office
The Technology Transfer Office (TTO) was established in the academic year 2017-2018 for the purpose of managing all Intellectual property matters related to research activities and outputs at UOS. The TTO helps achieve the UOS mission and vision of research excellence and innovation by providing the framework that governs the ownership, disposition, use and commercial development of inventions, discoveries and creative works made at or under the auspices of UOS. It also provides the framework for protecting the intellectual property rights of its faculty, staff and students and licensing them to parties outside the university.
