Sustainability Begins at UoS

The University of Sharjah has participated in the UI Green Metric World University Rankings (UIGWUR) consecutively for the six years from 2017 to 2022 and maintained the first place in UAE for the sixth year in a row.

Climate change must be addressed quickly, and the University of Sharjah (UoS) is fully devoted to this cause. With its creative partnerships, demanding academic programs, and state-of-the-art research, UoS is at the forefront of international initiatives to support resilient, sustainable, and equitable communities. We include these regional efforts into our academic and research activities in line with Sharjah's and the UAE's efforts to battle climate change, such as the UAE's goal to net-zero emissions by 2050 and Sharjah's Waste-to-Energy plant, the first in the Middle East.
