Precision in Motion

The College of Fine Arts and Design collaborated with the Sharjah Classic Car Museum on a project to design gift items inspired by the museum’s unique collection of classic cars. “Precision in Motion: Exploring the Educational Odyssey of Digital Fabrication in Laser-Cut Classic Car Models” is the latest CFAD Exhibit featuring the work of fourth-year students from an interdisciplinary course led by its instructor and exhibition curator Hadil El Ankouni (Lecturer in Interior Design). The exhibition, where the creative process begins with hands-on design thinking, blended with computer-assisted fabrication and a variety of materials, resulted in visually striking car models. Each piece tells a story, not just of how it is made but also in the meaning it carries. Captivating photography is also on display in the form of large posters and desk calendars representing the work of second-year Visual Communication students. Under the supervision of photographer Tor Seidel (Lecturer in Fine Arts), the students’ lenses have captured the intricate details of the timeless cars housed in the museum.
