Sharjah Districts And Villages Affairs Goes For Contemporary Offices Design

Interior Design students accepted the challenge to design contemporary offices that complement existing offices of the Sharjah Districts and Villages Affairs (DVA) in Aljazzat-Sharjah within four weeks. His Excellency Sheikh Majid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi (Chairman of the Districts and Villages Affairs Department) led the client's team visit to CFAD which included Dr. Abdulla Sulaiman Alkabouri (DVA Director) and Mr. Obaid Eisa Aljunaid (Head of General Services Section at DVA) and several DVA staff. Three short-listed projects competed for the chance to have their design implemented. Designers included Haia Ziad Ali, Moufida Mohideen, Asma Hafez Mohammed Harun, Noon Sir Alkhtim Saleh, Rajeen Abuzied, Rian Osman, Hiba Abdelaziz, Asma Khalid Muhammad, Fatima Mohammed Alobeidli and Fatemeh Safar Ghavasi. The comprehensive projects highlighted a complete office design with finishes, furniture proposals, and integrated building systems. Students sought input from local construction and supplies companies to ensure design applicability. Students were guided by Dr. Wael Rashdan (Associate Professor in Interior Design) and Ms. Rita Abou Haidar (Visiting Lecturer in Interior Design). Special appreciation to Project Coordinator Dr. Karima Alshomely (Assistant Professor in Fine Arts) for her continued follow-up to ensure a successful collaboration.
