Assistant Professor Nada Abdallah and Visual Communication Senior Hessa Yousif Al Zarooni are both participating in the inaugural Dubai Calligraphy Biennale. Abdallah’s project “Sawasiya” is a modern take on Kufic Calligraphy forming Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) saying “People are equal like the teeth of a comb.” Al Zarooni’s submission, an Emirati proverb, “The one who knocks at the door gets the answer” applies “mgbid,” a contemporary bilingual font.” The work was part of her coursework for “Typography III” under the supervision of Nada Abdallah.
