CFAD's Printmaking Make An Impression
Two printmaking workshops led by CFAD Faculty accompanied the ongoing exhibit “Reflections and Inspirations from Emirati Heritage” currently running at the Sharjah Heritage Museum (November 15, 2023 to April 19, 2024). The first workshop, led by Dr. Karima Alshomely (Assistant Professor in Fine Arts) was linocut, a form of block printing, in which a design is carved on linoleum, inked and printed on paper. The second workshop, led by Andreea Lonhardt-Muresan (Lecturer in Fashion Design and Textiles), was block printing on fabric. Both workshops encouraged participants to get inspired by the works on exhibit to develop their own patterns. A full program of bilingual lectures and workshops are presented by CFAD faculty over the next few months as part of the collaboration with the Museum.
