CFAD Faculty Lead Workshops @ Cop28uae
COP28UAE program dedicated December 8th, 2023, to the theme Youth, Children, Education, and Skill. Two CFAD Faculty presented their workshops during the day at Ministry of Education Greening Education Hub. The first workshop, “Eco-Expressions”, was led by Dr. Ousama Lazkani (Assistant Professor in Visual Communication). "Eco-Expressions" is an innovative workshop designed to blend the realms of art, sustainability, and environmental consciousness. It explores the concept of using recycled materials — specifically, used coffee grounds and scrap wood — to create beautiful inlay art. Inlay art, a traditional form of decorative craftsmanship, typically involves embedding pieces of contrasting materials into a base to form patterns or pictures. By adapting this technique, the workshop seeks to introduce a modern, sustainable twist to this artistic practice. The second workshop, “Taamulat”, was led by Nadia Albadri (Lecturer in Interior Design). “Taamulat” creates a spot to connect between humanity and climate change issues which reflect the impact of this change on humanity. Widely disseminating this knowledge is crucial for fostering a collective understanding encouraging sustainable practices. The concept is inspired by the position of the fetus in its mother’s womb, as the safest and calmest place. The universe is the womb of humanity
