VC Student Wins ADMAF-L’Ecole Award Sponsored by Van Cleef & Arpels

ADMAF Design Fund Award 2024 in partnership with L'Ecole, School of Jewelry Arts and sponsored by Van Cleef & Arpels revealed the winner of this year competition. CFAD is pleased to announce that senior visual communication student Shamma Mohamed Alhammadi was this year’s winner. Organizers noted that “the competition was intense, and we were truly impressed by the creativity and talent displayed by all the applicants”. Alhammadi’s collection “Al Dana wa AlKhawasa الدانة والخواصة “ reflects her deep understanding of the Emirati heritage and skill to translate into a contemporary design. She noted in her submission:” This jewelry design is deeply rooted in the cultural legacy of the UAE, particularly focusing on the ancient crafts and the significance of pearls. Pearls have been an integral part of Emirati history, symbolizing beauty, and wealth, and were once a major trade commodity that shaped the economy and lifestyle of the region. The design also incorporates traditional handcrafted techniques, such as wickerwork, which were essential for everyday survival and artistry.” Congratulations Shamma on this wonderful accolade!
