Fashion Design Student wins 2024 ADMAF/Dolce and Gabbana Design Award
Azza Rashed Alsuwaidi (Second Year Fashion Design and Textiles Student) wins the 2024 ADMAF/Dolce and Gabbana Design Award. Alsuwaidi noted that “the inspiration behind ‘Flourish’, the Abaya design, stems from the Bougainvillea plant . . . The flower thrives, even under the harshest and driest of weather conditions. Its fiery, hot pink, flower petals heavily influenced the construction of the garment. The design process consisted of analyzing the subject, abstracting the petals and interpreting it through its textile composition, assembling a sculpturally structured Abaya, pleated in rich noir organza with accents of electric pink tones that harmoniously envelops the form of the garment to convey the organic rhythm of the climbing flower, reconstructing our perception of nature and transforming it through fabric.” Our winner shall intern at Dolce & Gabbana’s headquarters in Italy and the design shall be showcased at Abu Dhabi Festival 2025.
