The Society of Typographic Art (STA) was established in Chicago in 1927 to promote excellence in visual communication "with an emphasis on the culture, technology, and politics of typography." The annual STA 100 Awards honors the best 100 typographic examples from around the world. Three of the one hundred 2023 Awards went to Ms. Nada Abdallah (Assistant Professor in Visual Communication). The recognized projects and their categories are "Back to Alif" / Installation, "SOS" / Poster, and "Isolated Letterforms Connected" / Experimental. The submissions are part of a larger research project focusing on Kufic Typography that Ms. Abdallah is engaged in.
