Sustaining University of Sharjah's Campus Accessibility Audit

The College of Fine Arts and Design collaborated with the UoS Sustainability Office, through the Equality and Integrated Accessibility Sustainability Circle, to audit three buildings on the main campus regarding their universal design appropriateness. The finalists included seventeen students divided into three teams who worked over a month as part of the “Building Systems for Interiors” course under the supervision of Dr. Iman Ibrahim (Assistant Professor in Interior Design) and Ms. Hadil El Ankouni (Lecturer in Interior Design). Findings and solutions were presented to Mr. Haidar Abu Taleb (World Disability Union), Professor Imad Alsyouf (Director of the UoS Sustainability Office), and Ms. Fatima Almuaini (Leader of Equality and Integrated Accessibility Circle) who provided valuable feedback to students. This project continues the College’s efforts to introduce students to actual projects in support of community engagement.
