Why Sociology ?
Since its establishment in 1997, the University of Sharjah's Department of Sociology has grown to become a pillar of academic success, providing high-quality instruction locally, regionally, and internationally. With aspirations to expand into offering a master's degree in Crime and Criminal Justice Studies, the department has seen remarkable growth over the past decade, and now represents the largest segment of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. We offer a comprehensive range of academic programs, including bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees. Committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment, the department promotes diversity by welcoming male students alongside their female counterparts in all programs.
Our distinguished faculty members, who are recognized for their expertise and dedication, work collaboratively to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to address critical social issues. Graduates are well-prepared for rewarding careers across various government agencies and departments focused on community development and social welfare. The Department of Sociology remains at the forefront of sociological education and research, staying true to its mission of academic excellence, sustainability, and positive societal impact as we continue to expand.
