The AlphaGUARD radon monitor and AlphaPUMP gas pump were used to pump out the radon gases from 70 cm underground depth to get radon concentration measurements.The location points are: (#1) Meliha Mountain, (#2) Meliha Desert, (#3) Meliha Rocky Soil 1, (#4) Meliha Rocky Soil 2, (#5) Kalba Mountain, (#6) Kalba Rocky Soil, (#7) Sharjah Coast, and (#8) UoS Campus Grounds. The mean radon concentration measured (Mean) in (Bq/m3) are: (#1) 148±28, (#2) 326±80, (#3) 128±42, (#4) 60±16, (#5) 39±1, (#6) 1370±306, (#7) 34±10, and (#8) 73±6. Two methods were used to measure the effective dose rate: the second method also measures the equivalent dose rate for lungs.The effective dose rate measurements (H˙ef f ) in (mSv/y) for the first method are:(#1) 5.2, (#2) 11.4, (#3) 4.5, (#4) 2.1, (#5) 1.4, (#6) 48.0, (#7) 1.2, (#8) 2.6. The lung equivalent dose rate measurements (H˙lung) in (nSv/h) for the second method are: (#1) 0.36, (#2) 1.40, (#3) 0.84, (#4) 0.60, (#5) 0.40, (#6) 0.40,(#7) 0.28, (#8) 0.36.Lastly, the effective dose rate measurements (H˙ef f ) in (nSv/h) for the second method are: (#1) 1.62, (#2) 6.30, (#3) 3.78, (#4) 2.70, (#5) 1.80, (#6) 1.80, (#7) 1.26,(#8) 1.62.
