Assessing the Effective Dose for Pediatric Patients Undergoing CT Scan Using MOSFET Dosimeters

This experiment aims to calculate the effective dose for pediatric patients undergoing CT scans using mobile MOSFET dosimeters. The human body parts of interest are the left eye, mandible, glabella, thyroid, and right eye. The values are as follows: 0.85 ±0.01 mSv, 2.62 ±0.04 mSv, 0.17 ±0.01 mSv, 1.13 ±0.05 mSv, and 0.94 ±0.03 mSv respectively. All dosimeters were calibrated using an X-ray machine operated at 35 KV before being used. Average absorbed dose values obtained indivdually by each dosimeter were compared with the average values obtained by all five probes. Consistency of readings was achieved, which ensures the validity of the calibration process. The values of the effective dose were compared with accepted literature values.
