Why Clinical Sciences?

The Pre-Clinical and Clinical Divisions of the Clinical Sciences Department (CSD) of the University of Sharjah College of Medicine are organized to include pathology, microbiology, pharmacology, immunology, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics and obstetrics and gynecology. Our team includes full-time and joint appointment faculty, complemented by a diverse range of adjunct clinical members from various specialties and affiliated hospitals. We have adjunct clinical members, full-time faculty, and part-time professors from different hospitals. We use a fully integrated problem-based learning (PBL) curriculum complemented by case-based learning (CBL), where students interact with clinical scenarios from the first week of Year 1, in keeping with our dedication to medical education.

Our program prioritizes hands-on clinical training above theoretical knowledge, guaranteeing the ongoing integration of fundamental and applied clinical scientific knowledge. To support this, we have state-of-the-art simulation labs for hands-on training. Furthermore, the department closely monitors and supports students during their clerkship rotations in hospitals, ensuring they gain the real-world clinical experience.

Additionally, our faculty actively participates in translational and clinical research; they also publish in prestigious medical publications and present at conferences both domestically and abroad. In addition to offering consultation services in clinical medicine, diagnostic microbiology, infectious diseases, and clinical pathology, we also engage in local and international public health awareness campaigns. This is how we give back to the community. At CSD, we place a high value on giving our students extensive clinical experience, research opportunities, and community service opportunities. We also support these activities with a vibrant learning environment and a wealth of tools for their academic development.
