Department of Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering

As a part of participation in UAE Innovates 2024, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)'s Innovation Centre hosted the second cycle of the CleanTech Hackathon from 19 to 21 February 2024. A UOS team from the Department of Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering (SREE) from the College of Engineering entered the competition by developing a proposal “SolCharge" aiming to incorporate solar energy directly into day-to-day electric vehicle (EV) applications. The team won the 1stplace at DEWA's Innovation Centre with a 20,000 AED prize. The SREE team members are Siefeddin Tahayneh, Mariam Amr Abdellatif and Fadi Mohammad, under the supervision of Dr. Di Zhang.
