Sharjah Sustainability Award Honoring The Winners Of The 11th Edition.
The Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah (EPAA) announced the winners of the 11th edition of the Sharjah Sustainability Award, in its two categories, green schools, and universities, in a large and distinguished ceremony held at the Al Qasimia University Theatre. Students from the College of Engineering won several awards in different categories. The second place was awarded to the Sustainable Manufacturing of Functional Parts Using Manufacturing, Addition of Materials and Metal Casting" project, presented byShamma Al Abdulla, Fabrizia Devito, and Haya Rami Noman Aljaghoub, under the supervision of Prof. Abdul Hai Alalami.
In the field of scientific research in sustainability for bachelor's degree students, first place was won by research on flexible photovoltaic solar energy applications in floating solar panels, submitted by Fatima Adam, Dulfah Ali, and Alia Almemari, under the supervision of Dr. Di zhang.
As for the field of scientific research in sustainability submitted by postgraduate students, the first place was won by the research project Design and Evaluation of Water Treatment Technologies for the Removal of Inorganic Components and Toxic Heavy Metals from Wastewater," by Abdul Rahman Khalil Abdul Razaq.
In the same category, second place was won by the project "Improving the Performance of the Biological Waste Reactor by Recycling the Treated Leachate" by Abdul Rahman Abdul Jaber, Supervised by Dr. Mohammad Abdalla.
In the field of future energy and emissions, the project "Bio-photovoltaic production of green hydrogen" was won by Nada Alnuwaishi, Reem Younis Alamiri, Sara Mamoun Almarzooqi, and Mariam Hasan Ahli, supervised by Dr. Abrar Inayat.
In the field of preserving and protecting natural environment resources, the second place went to the experimental test project and optimization of camel dung as potential raw materials for aerobic composting by Sarah Mohamad Smadi, supervised by Dr. Mohammad Abdalla.
In the field of sustainability in protecting human health and the environment, first place was won by the iron and carbon nanocomposite project to mitigate heavy metal pollution in complex water environments by Wedad Emad Masoud,Supervised by Dr.Sourjya (Shorjo) Bhattacharjee.
