Innovative Achievements and Recognition at COP28

In a noteworthy achievement, two students from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering—Shaima Alzarooni and Maitha Alzarooni—achieved remarkable success at Cop28, showcased under the University of Sharjah booth at the Ministry of Education hall. Notably, they introduced two impactful projects: the "Tawasl" smart gloves and the blind's lens, targeting assistance for people of determination. The smart gloves translate sign language into text and speech messages, aiding the speech and hearing impaired, while the blind's lens boosts confidence in daily tasks for the visually impaired.

Their presentations garnered attention from key figures, including Dr. Amina Almarzoqi, Vice President of the University for Student Affairs, and engineering department professors. By effectively representing the University of Sharjah students and EEE students, they fulfilled their objective of being youth ambassadors in diverse forums.

The duo received recognition from the Chancellor of UOS—His Excellency Prof. Humaid Alnuiami—in a recent ceremony, honoring their significant contributions and outstanding achievements.
