Why Civil and Environmental Engineering?
The department boasts an esteemed faculty specializing in cutting-edge civil engineering disciplines, including structural engineering, transportation and pavement engineering, construction engineering and management, water resources and environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, and GIS and remote sensing. It provides students with ample opportunities to explore their talents and career pathways.
Founded in 1997, the department has earned widespread acclaim for excellence in the United Arab Emirates, nurturing local and global partnerships. Alongside its undergraduate program, the department offers three graduate programs: Master’s in Civil Engineering, Master’s in Environmental Science and Engineering, and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, catering to a diverse cohort of over 120 postgraduate students.
Graduates emerge well-prepared for dynamic roles in construction firms, consulting offices, governmental bodies, road and transport authorities, and many more. They are equipped to excel in project management, environmental consulting, urban design, property development, and beyond. The department actively engages students in impactful local and international projects, enriching their educational experience through extracurricular activities facilitated by its prominent student clubs: the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI) student clubs.
